Finding My Voice

After completing my yoga certification requirements, I have found my "voice". When leading a group of people in yoga, it is very important to me to have personality when speaking and even a little humor.

Practicing yoga doesn't have to be something robotic and monotonous. It is SO important to have fun and really get honest with yourself. I truly feel so grateful and blessed to have the YTT I did because it really is like no other. I feel like I can connect with people on more than a physical level. Spiritual and energetic  connections are very powerful.

I love just going with the flow and not being so robotic. Not everyone has the same bone size and body type. You must be gentle, lead with care, and use smart discretion. Some people may have health issues that limit them from typical asanas, so it is very important to guide everyone to something they can do.

I have been called a "natural" for leading groups and helping people go within and get honest with themselves. A lot of us can be stuck in an unhealthy programming of lying to ourselves which can lead to limiting beliefs and an unhealthy mindset towards our daily lives. By testing our edges and believing we can do anything we put our mind to leads to growth.

One of my favorite things I've recently cherished

I used to believe if someone did a "pretty" pose and it was super advanced, then I would be fit and healthy. Wrong. Yoga is so much more than just being able to look instagram worthy and attaining a flat stomach.         Yoga is a process of confronting your own limitations being able to challenge and overcome them. I have never had upper body strength, core strength, or even great balance. I practiced and practiced Vrksasana (tree pose) until I got it right. I learned how to allow myself to trust myself. This was HUGE for me. By learning this, I can stand anywhere, away from a wall and balance because I learned to allow. Also, I perfected my ardha chandrasana (half moon) asana on my right side. I am still practicing it on my left side because I'm not as strong on my left. I don't have to use any assistance because I practiced so much. I learned from that asana that certain things take time. Focus in the moment and be present. That message resonated so much

Kemetic Yoga Practice

I have never liked the yoga that I was first introduced to in Charleston, South Carolina. I am very intuitive and have never felt nor believed that the yoga that was practiced there was the real deal. I was always turned off when the instructors were SO focused on just physical movement and whatever they said was "yoga". No one ever taught that yoga was something more.  I moved to Utah almost 1 year ago today and was introduced to Bodhi Yoga. Bodhi Yoga is a yoga practice and philosophy that originated out of current day Pakistan. I learned about chanting, connecting with my higher self, how the practice is meant for your own journey and not this attained pose that I saw all the time in Westernized Yoga. I loved that it taught me to expand my consciousness and how there is more to yoga than what Americans think.  I ventured into this metaphysical store over the summer in 2020 and found this beautiful place called Synchronicities. I wandered throughout the store and saw orgoni

Twenty Twenty

What a year.  In January, I began a new chapter in my life across the country 3,000 miles away from my hometown. I had no idea what was about to unfold for me this year, but I knew I was ready for a new beginning.  This was the year I had my first ego death. I didn't know who I was or what I wanted to be. I was aimlessly floating through life barely getting by and taking care of myself in new ways. I was eating vegan, adjusting my sleep schedule, and started taking vitamins and supplements religiously.  I began my yoga teacher training journey in March and I knew this going to be apart of my life forever. After awakening my yoga practice like never before, one night I struggled falling and staying asleep. This was the night that changed EVERYTHING for me. I fell asleep on my back, my third eye opened and I saw the lower astral plane. I saw dark entities and floated out of my physical body. When I realized I was floating, I thought to myself "wow. I feel FREE." I rolled ba
